1. Introduction

The objective of this project was to create a freelancing platform for senior citizens to connect with potential clients and offer their expertise in various fields. Our client, a technology startup, wanted to create a platform that would enable senior citizens to work remotely and leverage their skills and experience. The platform was designed to provide a way for senior citizens to supplement their income while maintaining their independence and engagement in the workforce.

2. User Research

To gain a better understanding of the needs and preferences of senior citizens, we conducted a series of interviews and surveys with individuals aged 60 and above. We found that many senior citizens were interested in freelancing as a way to supplement their retirement income and stay engaged in their fields of expertise. We also discovered that many senior citizens lacked familiarity with technology platforms, and needed a user-friendly interface that was easy to navigate and understand.

3. Information Architecture

Based on our research, we developed a sitemap and wireframes to organize the content and structure of the website. The website included sections for profile creation, job listings, messaging, and payment processing. We designed the website to be intuitive and easy to use, with clear and concise navigation that would help users find what they needed quickly.

4. Interaction Design

The website’s user interface was designed to be simple and easy to use for senior citizens. We incorporated large, easy-to-read fonts and high-contrast colors to make the text and icons more visible. We also included clear calls-to-action and step-by-step instructions to guide users through the process of creating a profile, applying for jobs, and communicating with clients.

To make the platform more user-friendly, we added several features to help senior citizens manage their profiles and applications. For example, we included a feature that enabled users to set their own rates for their services, based on their expertise and experience. We also added a messaging system that allowed users to communicate with clients in real-time, and a payment processing system that made it easy for users to receive payment for their services.

5. Visual Design

To create a visually appealing and professional design, we chose a color scheme and typography that was easy to read and aligned with the client’s brand identity. We used a muted color palette with pops of brighter colors to draw attention to important elements such as buttons and calls-to-action. We also incorporated icons and imagery that reflected the target audience, such as images of senior citizens working and interacting with clients.

6. Prototyping

We created a high-fidelity prototype to test and validate the design with users. The prototype included all of the features we had developed, including the ability to set rates, communicate with clients, and receive payment. We conducted user testing with a group of senior citizens, and made changes to the design based on their feedback.

One example of a change we made was to simplify the payment processing system, as some users found it confusing to navigate. We also added more detailed instructions and tooltips to guide users through the process of creating a profile and applying for jobs.

7. Usability Testing

We conducted usability testing with a group of senior citizens to evaluate the website’s user interface. The testing showed that the website was easy to use and navigate, and users were able to complete tasks such as creating a profile and applying for jobs with ease. We also received positive feedback on the platform’s overall design and functionality.

8. Conclusion

The freelancing platform for senior citizens was a success, with many users finding jobs and connecting with clients through the platform. The website’s user-centered design and functionality made it easy for senior citizens to navigate and use, and it has helped many senior citizens supplement thei
